UK Entry Visa: Updates on Tier-4 Visa

UK Student Visa

UK Student Visa

As we all are aware about the havoc caused by the Pandemic Corona Virus, many of the international students aspiring to study abroad have suffered as well. The impact has been huge but all is not lost yet. This Pandemic is just a temporary phase which pass too soon. In fact, many countries have opened up their international borders as well. UK has opened up its borders and is inviting the international students to pursue higher education at their dream universities.

This article will update you on the UK Student Visa (Entry) along with the required information.

For the students whose Tier-4 visa was approved and were not able to travel to the UK, we now have an update on the further steps to be taken.

The student can now follow either of the two options below:

  • Apply for a replacement entry visa to travel to the UK on your current visa; or
  • Apply to cancel your visa application and apply for your visa again with an updated CAS with new course dates.

Option 1:

UKVI have extended the 30-day entry visa to 90 days. You can now apply for your free of charge 90-day entry visa to travel to the UK by following the instructions below:

How to apply for 90-day entry visa?

You will need to email CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk  the following:

  • Your name
  • Your nationality
  • Your date of birth
  • ‘REPLACEMENT 30 DAY VISA’ in the subject line with your GWF reference number

You should only email once.

UKVI will then contact you once the visa application centres re-open with the next steps and further instructions.

Option 2

If the student does not want to apply for the free to charge 90-day entry visa, the student can choose to request to cancel his/her current visa application and then apply for a new Tier 4 visa application in your home country with updated course dates on his/her CAS.

How does a student cancel his/her visa application?

The student needs to email CIH@homeoffice.gov.uk with the following details:

  • Student's full name
  • Student's nationality
  • Student's date of birth
  • Student's GWF reference number
  • In the subject line of the email student need to write '‘CANCELLATION REQUEST'

UKVI will then respond once visa application has been cancelled and they will inform you if the application will be refunded.

These are the steps you can follow and you can enter UK.

For students willing to study in the UK, the tier 4 visa has a point-based system where students have to collect 40 points in total. The 30 points for the CAS, the acceptance of the student at a UK University, and 10 points for showing the proof of funds that one can maintain themselves for the course duration or the first year of education.

The UK Student Visa requirements remain the same. The main thing would be a proof of competency in English language. English language test or SELT must be qualified. CEFR B2 level of language proficiency must be qualified if you are studying at a degree level or higher.

So, this was all about the update on Tier 4 Visa to study in UK.

Hope this was useful. Follow our page for more such updates on study abroad destination and visas as well.

See you soon.
