As with any country, the UK Student Visa process is an important factor that decides a student’s fate as far as studying in UK universities is concerned. The student has to understand the process and then meet all the requirements specified by the visa authorities before being granted the right to study in the UK. This article talks in brief about the UK student visa process and in greater detail on the new post-study visa rules which have been brought into picture for the benefit of international students.
Overview of the UK student Visa Process
New Post-study Visa Rules
The UK Government, as part of its International Education Strategy has re-introduced the post-study visa for its international students.
This move is a result of the UK government’s strategy to promote UK education for international students and thereby draw the international student crowd to the UK. It aims to increase the student population to 600,000 by 2030 from 460,000 that was observed in 2017-18.
The student numbers had significantly declined due to the withdrawal of the PSW in the UK. After China, India happens to be the largest in terms of applicants from outside the European Union. For Indian students, the provision of a post-study visa plays a major role in selecting their study-abroad destination. Hence the Indian students had lessened in the UK when there was no provision for the PSW visa.
Now, the new rules have been introduced to re-establish the UK as a predominant study destination for International students.
All this helps students in their search for relevant employability in the UK after their study period. These strategies have been adopted to boost the International, and particularly Indian student enrollments at UK universities.
